Spain is presently going through a difficult crisis due to recession. The country is given some positive light however, with the help of one iconic rock band. Bon Jovi is set to fire up Estadio Vicente Calderon in Madrid, Spain on June 26 and they announced great news to their recession-hit fans.
The American rock band’s gig in Spain is part of their 15th concert tour, “Because We Can”. In an interview between Jon Bon Jovi and El Mundo newspaper, the band’s lead vocalist revealed that the organizers originally wanted to cut Madrid off the list of the tour venues due to concerns that with the recession and high employment rate, they would not be able to fill out the seats. However, the band collectively decided to perform at the Madrid venue on the 27th anyway. According to the lead singer, “We didn’t want to let down fans that have supported us for 30 years in a country that I love.” More importantly, they made a move that their Spanish fans are sure to be very happy about.
The fees for the concert were adjusted in an effort to make them feasible for the cash-strapped fans of the band. The tickets had sold out with prices that range from 18-39 euros (15 pounds – 32.8 pounds). In comparison, the Stuttgart leg of the tour is priced at 77 euros.
The “Because We Can: The Tour” of Bon Jovi is in support of their 12th studio album “What About Now”. It will cover all of the five major continents all throughout 2013. It involves a lot of firsts for the band, or at least some things that they have not done for a long time. This includes their first visit to Wales since their One Wild Night tour which dates back to 2001. Also, it is their first return to the shores of Africa which they have visited last during their These Days Tour which was held way back in 1995. Perhaps the most significant of all is that, the tour will have them perform in Bulgaria and Poland for the first time in the whole 30 years of their music history.
“Because We Can”, which their concert tour is named after, is the first single to be released from the 12th studio album of Bon Jovi, “What About Now”. It was in January 07, 2013 when the song premiered on radio and its music video premiered on the 29th later that same month. The song had sold up to 83,000 copies in the United States as of March 20, 2013 and received mixed reviews from music critics. Among the positive reviews that it garnered, one stated that the song was both epic and invigorating, being given 5 out of 5 stars by that particular critic.
