Rasheed Wallace might have had fans worried when he got ejected from the New York Knicks game yesterday 1:25 into the play, but Carmelo Anthony was able to save the day. Not that the team had issues with what Wallace did. With Scola still trying to play through the whistle, the team felt that what Wallace did was justified. Anthony himself thinks that Wallace’s past records played a part in the latter being ejected from the game.
Well, it cannot be denied that there are times in the game when the Phoenix Suns seem to be taking the lead only to be one-upped by the Knicks. Many times during the first half, the Suns were able to take control of the ball leading to them closing the first quarter with a 24-20. This almost led to having control of the whole game had they not committed a few fumbles during the rest of the play.
With the Anthony never seeming to lack the needed energy for the night, the team was able to end up with a 7-0 with Anthony making a total of 34 points. It looks like Mike Woodson, the team’s coach, has finally figured out what “home court advantage means”. If you would recall, it has been over a decade since the Knicks were able to have a 7-0 streak when it comes to winning in their home court. Although Woodson himself is just a recent addition to the team, it seems he is pulling out the team from the rut.
After playing for the Denver Nuggets for around 8 years, Carmelo Anthony was recently traded to the New York Knicks. The trade, partly initiated by Anthony himself, has caused some eyebrows to be raised even if Anthony has proven himself to be capable time and again. With the results of last night’s game, it would seem like Anthony’s move is not a bad idea after all.
Ever since Anthony entered the NBA, he had consistently led the Nuggets from one title to the next which allowed him to land a spot in the USA National Team. Of course, the story does not end there. As part of the USA National Team, Carmelo Anthony went on to break the record for the most number of points in a single game during their performance with Nigeria, scoring 37 points. He had also played side by side with Lebron James during the 2012 Summer Olympics. What makes Anthony one of the most sought-after players is the fact that he can play both small forward and power forward. He is considered to be one of the most prolific players when it comes to offensive play due to his quickness and ability to put a significant distance between him and the defensive players.
Basing on the Knicks performance last night against the Phoenix Suns, it would seem like the team would be able to top their best average of points per first quarter quite easily. This season might just be what the Knicks need to prove their capabilities.
